IR effect in photography has been quite popular recently. In order to get an IR effect, you need an IR filter attached to your camera. However, the filter is somehow expensive. No need to worries, there are a bunch of tutorials on the web to get an IR effect using Adobe Photoshop (if you are willing to find them ;p). Below is one of the examples:
