Our Own Couple Tee: Special Post

A few weeks ago I was busy preparing a birthday present for my girlfriend. I came up with an idea to create a caricature of herself. I been practicing a lot to create a not-so-good-but-easily-identifiable-visual-likeness caricature. I was almost frustrated because none of my drawings were look alike. A total failure, like this one, when the deadline was getting tighter. Last week, I said to myself, "this is my last attempt. If I fail, then I am gonna buy her something else."

The rough sketch wasn't good enough, but look alike ;) I created it on my phone then exported it to Adobe Photoshop. Here, I made some huge changes to the detail of her face. Here are some of the screenshots during the making of her caricature.

Violaaa!

I managed to create a caricature of her. Next, I remembered that she really wanted to have a tee of her caricature on it. So, I created a concept of the tee like this one.

After finishing the concept of her tee, I went to a digital printing workshop to make the tee. The result was good enough. So, I met her on Sunday, June 17 2012, which was her birthday, to give her this present. She really liked the tee and was very excited to put it on right away.

One thing she didn't know was that the tee has a pair. She once asked me why there was such a text "He likes England". Then I told her, "You'll see, hunny." Then we went to the digital printing workshop again and here we go, the other tee.

She really was surprised that it's a couple tee. I still remember her expression when knowing it was a couple tee. After putting on the tee, we went to some places to spend some time together. June 17 2012 was her birthday, and the day before I went to Hong Kong.

"It's a special gift", she said.

Self-Picture

This one I made a couple of years ago. Though the right eye is a little bit asymmetric, but it's still okay (it's because the model is somewhat gorgeous, so it won't be any matter with the picture). Hahaa..just kidd! ;)

This is the caricature commission by a friend of my sister. The caricatures were made by her friend with a fee of $10 on an A4 paper size.

And I'm Ready to Go to the Office

Recently I'm experimenting on drawing caricatures. It's not easy to draw a caricature anyway. We have to know what is special from someone's face, and that's what I'm trying to learn. Here's one of the caricatures I've made.

For the title, I use those words because it is really my style when going to my office, with formal shirt and vest.

SBY - President

Here is another caricature I made recently. Well, it's a little bit easier to draw famous people like him instead of myself, for everyone (-especially Indonesian citizens) knows this person. Yes, he is the current President of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Mbah Surip - A Tribute To

Today we lost one of the most fenomenal singer in Indonesia, Mbah Surip (Eng: Granpa Surip). With his outstanding song titled "Tak Gendong", Mbah Surip died at his popularity, just like Michael Jackson. No one could replace him. His sincerity in living the life has inspired many people in Indonesia. Good bye Mbah Surip. Thank's for bringing happiness for all of us. I love you, full!

World without Smile

Smiling has got to be one of the best inventions. It doesn't matter what race you are, what part of the world you're from, your culture, or religion. Smiles are universal and language independent. It's a great way to pass the time. You get a wide range of responses. Rarely, you'll get a weird look. Sometimes, they'll blush. Most of the time, you'll get a smile back :)

But what will happen if nobody smiles? People will not respect to each other and maybe there will be wars and violence. That's why people need to smile.

Smile - and the world can hear you. Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.
